Year 4 to Year 5

Hello Year 4,

Woohoo! It’s the summer holidays!

How will you be spending the six week holidays? Will you be visiting family and friends, going for short trips, building sandcastles on the beach or venturing further afield? No matter what you and your family choose to do, it will be a well-deserved break. However, in the current climate, not everyone is ready to venture too far and if you do, it’s probably unlikely that you can fill all six weeks with fun-filled activities. So here’s some summer home learning for you to continue your studying when you have a free moment.

We would still like you to continue reading and using Times Tables Rock Stars regularly. On the school website, there are also ten writing and ten maths activities that we would like you to attempt. The English activities are a range of fun, creative and open ended writing tasks; some are based on non-fiction and some are just a stimulus for you to write your own stories. Have a look and see which one you like! The maths activities focus on calculation – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Miss Gee and Miss Austin’s groups have ten individual worksheets, where as Mrs Lowdon’s group has a PowerPoint presentation with ten tasks to work through. Take your time with these activities. You don’t have to do everything, just try as much as you can. Try to make the most of your holiday – relax, do activities you enjoy, spend some precious time with your family and do a bit of learning.Everyone here in Year 4, wishes you a fun, relaxing and safe summer holiday.

With all our love,

Miss Gee, Miss Austin, Mrs Lowdon, Mrs Florey and Miss M

The attached home learning document is in a similar style to all your home learning during school closure. There are lots of different activities for you to choose from.
