PSHE 2024/2025

Intent

Our PSHE units are fully in line with the PSHE Association Programme of Study and meet all updated curriculum guidance for Statutory Relationships and Health Education.

In KS1 (Year 1 & 2) Programme of Study covers a wide range of thought-provoking topics, including how to use digital technology safely, an introduction to financial education and the changes we experience as we grow up. 
In LKS2 (Year 3 & 4), the objectives have been split into 12 engaging topics that aim to provide children with all the skills they need for later life, including how to stay safe in a wide variety of situations, the importance of being yourself and the valuable subject of global citizenship.
In UKS2 (Year 5 & 6), the topics ensure that children are gaining a thorough physical, social, health and economic education that will benefit them in the classroom, in the wider world and in the future. For example, the lessons cover important topics like how to work effectively with others, the impact of British values on our everyday lives and how to keep physically healthy.

Implementation

The PSHE scheme of work is a spiral curriculum featuring thematic units:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Relationships
-Living in the Wider World

The six lessons within each unit have been written to follow a sequence so that  children gain a full understanding of the topic at hand. This sequential nature of these lessons means that during each lesson children have chance to reflect on what they already know, gain some additional knowledge and apply what they have learnt in a way they can relate to.

How parents can help

Talk to your child about what they learn in school. The termly parent guides emailed home will support you with this.

 The school works as part of the STARS network, in collaboration with RBG and TfL to promote safe and sustainable travel.
