junior parkrun - Lesnes Abbey - FREE Sunday fun!

Dear parents and carers,

Today we had an assembly all about junior parkrun! As some of you may be aware, I am (or rather was) a keen marathon runner, who following injury and ankle surgery in January 2026, has not been able to run. To still be involved with the running community I have been volunteering at our local junior parkrun regularly on a Sunday morning. Today I spoke to the children in assembly about junior parkrun, the benefits in taking part and got some children involved in some fun practical activities (the weekly warm up). We are very lucky to have a junior parkrun locally at Lesnes Abbey.

junior parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. junior parkrun is 2k, dedicated to 4-14 year olds and their families and friends of all ages, every Sunday morning at 9am with a really fun warm up. junior parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along!

Excitingly, we are encouraging all students, teachers and families connected to De Lucy Primary School to come along together to Lesnes Abbey  junior parkrun on any Sunday in June. It will be an amazing experience to walk, jog, run or volunteer with so many friends at junior parkrun.

If you can’t attend this week, junior parkrun happens every Sunday so you can come any Sunday you are available. 

We don’t yet have a school group but if we do get some runners/joggers/walkers attending we will set one up and this can be added to your child’s parkrun profile.
