Year 2 - 6 Times Table Rockstars Competition
Dear Parent and Carers of Years 2-6,
As part of our commitment to make maths exciting and to develop children’s quick recall of multiplication and division facts, De Lucy School will be taking part in a Times Table Rockstars Competition involving schools from Greater London.
The competition is aimed at children from Year 2 to 6 as children are expected to begin learning their multiplication Times Tables for Year 2. It will take place from Monday 28th June to Friday 2nd July.
On Monday the 28th June, school assemblies will take place informing children about the competition and how to take part. They will have an opportunity to compete on Monday in school but the main focus is to encourage children to have a go at home.
The competition is all done online via the TTRS website - https://ttrockstars.com/ or you can download the app and play via this. The app is available to download via ‘Google Play’ or the ‘App Store’.
Children are already using the TTRS website regularly as part of their school homework and are familiar with the site and will know how to log on. Your child’s log in details should be stuck in their reading record or multiplication practise book. If for any reason you cannot find this, please speak directly to their class teacher or Miss Gee.
For every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, your child will earn their class a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours). Winning classes in the school and in the competition as a whole will be the ones with the highest average.
The winning class in De Lucy with the highest score will receive a prize of a £50 Amazon voucher which the class can use to purchase games of their choice for golden time.
All game modes (Gig, Garage, Studio, etc.) will count but only from games played between 07:00 and 19:00 on Monday 28th, Tuesday 29th, Wednesday 30th, Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd.
In the spirit of the competition, please do not play on their behalf but by all means encourage and support them to the extent that it doesn’t cause high stress levels or impact on family plans. We suggest a limit of half an hour a day outside school hours – some will play more, some will play less.
Thank you for your continued support,
Times Table Rock Stars Lead
