Update - 10th September
Thank you for your continued support this week with our new arrival and collection procedures. After running our new systems for the past few days (with a few tweaks), everyone has been able to become more familiar with the arrangements, which are working well. Now we are at Thursday, we have had an opportunity to review how things are going and have made a few adjustments to limit parental access (and therefore contact) on site as well.
Changes to drop off arrangements
Today we stopped Year 5 and Year 6 parents coming through the gate in the morning. The children will now enter onto the school site on their own. Collection arrangements will remain unchanged.
From tomorrow (Friday 11th) Year 4 children will come in without their adult. Parents are to wait with their child in the morning but will not be allowed through the school gate. Collection arrangements will remain unchanged.
From Monday, Year 3 children will come in without their adult. Parents are to wait with their child in the morning but will not be allowed through the school gate. Collection arrangements will remain unchanged.
Drop off arrangements for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 remain unchanged at this time.
Social distancing and face masks
In order to keep parents and staff safe, we politely ask that from tomorrow, all adults (who are not exempt), wear a face mask when coming on site to drop off/collect. Children are not expected to wear face masks and we ask that these are not brought into school. Parents may be asked to pull their face masks down at collection, so that the class teacher can clearly identify that children are being dismissed to the correct adult.
Staff will continue to keep a safe distance from parents and to keep themselves and parents safe, staff will be wearing clear face visors when on the gates/dismissing children.
Please talk to your children about these changes.
Talking to staff
I have asked staff that if they need to talk with a parents or parents want to have a discussion, that they let parents know that they will phone them after school. I am aware that this may seem frustrating when you just want a ‘quick word’, but teachers need to dismiss children quickly and carefully. If they are having conversations with parents, there is the risk of social distancing not being in place as well as parents starting to gather.
A number of parents have asked to speak to Senior Leaders on the playground, we politely request that you contact the school office with your query and your call will be returned as for the same reasons as above, we are not able to engage in conversations at drop off/collection points.
Please remember to leave all bikes scooters at home and that only one adult per family should be coming onto site.
We have received a number of positive messages this week from families about how the term has begun and the plans we have put in place. This is a testament to the hard work of the staff and children to get used to the new normal and the cooperation of parents and carers. Thank you for your continued support and patience.
