Refugee week - Next week

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week, we will be marking Refugee Week in school through a range of age-appropriate activities designed to develop pupils’ understanding of the experiences of refugees.

These will include:

• A whole-school screening of the short film Largo
• Story time exploring books about refugee experiences
• An online KS2 poetry event
• A Year 5 workshop on empathy with the British Red Cross

At a time when the stories and experiences of immigrants and refugees are often misunderstood or misrepresented, we believe it is now more important than ever to help children develop empathy, challenge prejudice and recognise the value of a welcoming and inclusive community. We encourage you to ask your child about their learning during Refugee Week and continue these conversations at home.
