New relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education guidance - meeting and survey

Dear parents and carers,

The government has introduced new relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education guidance, that we’re required to follow from 1 September 2026. 

Because of this, we’re reviewing our curriculum and policy, so we can be sure our provision is appropriate for our pupils based on their:

• Age and development stage
• Physical and emotional maturity
• Religious and cultural background
• Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

We need your feedback to help us do this.

Here’s how you can help:

We’re holding a meeting on Friday 12th June at 9.10am (following story share). If you’d like to attend please email info@delucy.greenwich.sch.uk by 5pm on Wednesday 10th June. 

This session should take no more than 1 hour and will take place at school. In this meeting, I will be going through the new expectations and sharing the proposed new teaching materials and resources. 

There is also a google form with a survey, it would be appreciated if as many parents as possible can complete this. This will close on Thursday 11th June at 5pm.

Our proposed curriculum:

As a school, De Lucy has delivered a comprehensive RSHE curriculum since September 2014 and we are anticipating that only a few changes will be required to ensure that our curriculum is compliant from September 2026. The current proposed curriculum is a newer version of what we currently deliver. This is attached along with the new Department of Education guidance. This is called SRE overview and DfE Guidance 2026.
