Family TV watching for this evening!
Dear parents and carers
You may remember that back in the Autumn Term, as a school we took part in the BBC 500 words writing competition.
This was launched by the children taking part in a live lesson in school with others across the country (via the BBC website) and then used their plan created in the lesson to write a short story of 500 words maximum.
Miss Hughes selected ‘school’ winners but also submitted all the entries directly to the BBC. Entries were submitted for Key Stage 1 (Year 1&2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6).
Tonight on BBC One at 7pm, the One Show will be hosting a special episode of the final of 500 words writing competition from Windsor Castle at the invitation of Her Majesty the Queen.
We would like to encourage as many families as possible to watch this with their children to not only recognise that they took part in a national competition but to see that young people just like them can do exceptional things.
This will also be a great motivator for them when we take part again in Autumn 2026.
Kind regards
Mrs Lodge
