De Lucy Family Support Hub and non-uniform day
Dear Parents and Carers,
Over the past year, since the first lockdown in March 2020, we have been supporting families where possible with additional food packages, stationery and uniform support. During the lockdown in Spring 2021, we were fortunate enough to be provided with a base stock from Greenwich Foodbank to set up our own provision to support families who need it, to save travel to Foodbanks across the borough. We have decided to call our food and uniform bank the De Lucy Family Support Hub and we would like this provision to be self-sustainable by the school (in partnership with families and local businesses).
How can you help?
On Friday 28th May we will be holding a non-uniform day for ALL pupils. If you are in a position to donate one item for our hub, we would really appreciate the following items:
- - EYFS – Tinned fruit
- - Year 1 – Tinned vegetables
- - Year 2 – Baked beans, tinned spaghetti, soup etc
- - Year 3 – Pasta/rice/couscous/pulses
- - Year 4 – Spreads (jam, marmalade, chocolate spread etc)
- - Year 5 – UHT milk or fruit juice (not fresh juice please)
- - Year 6 – Tea/coffee/sugar/hot chocolate
On this day we are asking staff to donate household products along with desserts/biscuits.
If you have school uniform which your child has out grown which is in good condition, we will also gratefully receive this as well.
If you work for a local business who may be able to support with a one off donation or regular support, please let us know!
What will the hub provide and how can you access the support?
After May half term, we will be officially opening our De Lucy Family Support Hub, to provide additional food provisions and uniform to any families who need to this help, instead of making referrals to the Greenwich Foodbank. Although this will be our ‘official’ launch, we are still able to support families prior to this, as we have been to date.
We hold a stock of the below and will be adding to this following next week.
- - Cereals
- - Tinned vegetables, including chopped tomatoes
- - Soup
- - Pasta/Rice/couscous
- - Pasta sauces (tomato based and pesto)
- - Baked beans
- - Biscuits
- - Sanitary products
- - Toiletries
- - Nappies
- - Cleaning/washing products
If you would like support from our hub, just let us know, that is what it is for! Please call the school office and ask for HUB SUPPORT and your call will be returned or your request taken at that time. You can also email email@example.com or send a message via Schoolcomms. Similarly to the Foodbank, we will ask some basic information such as number of children and adults in the household, as well as reason for support such as delayed benefits etc. This may lead to us being able to direct you to other sources of support such as the Nil Recourse Team, Pupil benefits (if you are not in receipt of Free School Meals and should be), Early Help, etc.
We hope where possible you support us with our hub, which supports our school ethos of ‘High achievement in a caring community’.
