Home learning - Year 1 - 6
Dear parents and carers,
You will have received the curriculum letter for this half term, outlining what the children will be learning in school.
To build upon the work they do in class, there are home learning opportunities on Google Classrooms. Subject leaders have put together activities for their subjects which relate to and further develop their knowledge and skills. While Google Classroom was invaluable during lockdown, it wasn’t meant exclusively for this and is now an established learning resource in the school now we are all back; is a particularly useful platform for home learning and we are encouraging the children to use it for this purpose.
While it is important to continue to focus on the core learning of reading and maths at home, it is also vital that children are encouraged to explore, be inquisitive and have the chance to learn more in the wider curriculum. We are suggesting that children attempt ONE PIECE a week.
All class teachers will look the home learning each week and each piece of home learning turned in will receive an acknowledgement from the class teacher. Children who produce really good pieces of learning will be put forward for the Home Learner of the Week certificate. Any really outstanding pieces will be considered to go onto the school’s Facebook page. If you do not have access to a device at home, please contact the school and a paper copy of the tasks will be provided.
We hope to see lots of lovely home learning soon!
