Covid-19 contact tracing in schools over the Easter holidays

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Department of Education would like schools to assist Public Health/NHS Track and Trace with any positive cases of Covid-19 that may be confirmed for up to six days after the end of term.

Reporting Positive Cases

In line with Department of Education guidance, the following will be in place after 4pm on Wednesday 31st March:

  • For the first 6 days after teaching ends, if a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in school, the school has been asked to assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious whilst in school.
Parents and carers will need to email me on headteacher@delucy.greenwich.sch.uk as soon as possible to inform the school of any positive test results. Please title the email POSITIVE COVID.  I will not be responding to any other emails during this time as it is the Easter holiday, I but will be checking emails twice a day: morning and late afternoon/early evening to enable myself and the Senior Leadership Team to deal with any Covid related issues.
  • School staff are not asked to remain on-call or conduct any contact tracing more than 6 days after the final day of teaching. Where a school’s last teaching day is on Wednesday 31st March, there should be no pupil contact tracing asks beyond Tuesday 6th April. However, if your child develops symptoms within 48 hours of being in school and you are still awaiting results of a Covid test on 6th April, please email me on headteacher@delucy.greenwich.sch.uk so that I know to look out for an update on following days.
  • Where a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in school, the school should not be contacted. Parents and carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace. Please update us by phone/SchoolComms when we return on Monday 19th April.

How we will inform parents/carers if there is a positive case

If I am alerted to a positive Covid test in which the child/member of staff was in school within 48 hours of symptoms developing, you will receive a text message to alert you to an email with full information from Public Health if your child is considered to have been in close contact with the individual.

The rest of the school community will receive an email to inform them of the case within school.

Phone calls will not be made.

I wish you all a safe and restful Easter break when it arrives.

Kind regards

Mrs Lodge

From Monday 8th March 2021, the school is open to all pupils
