Academy Consultation - April 2024
We are really proud of our school and the offer that we provide, however we are always looking for ways to improve so that your children receive the best possible education.
Over the last 12-18 months, the leadership team and governors have been investigating the options of Academy status find out any advantages and disadvantages for our school. After lots of research, we believe that joining PolyMAT, a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) will be in the best interests of our school for families, pupils and staff. Please find attached the consultation paper relating to this proposal, which may answer many questions that you may have as well as provide a meeting date and time available to you to discuss this further, should you so wish. The consultation runs for 6 weeks.
PolyMAT currently contains:
- Woolwich Poly Boys (and Sixth Form)
- Woolwich Poly Girls
- Bannockburn Primary School
We are not being forced into an academy and if we join PolyMAT, De Lucy will continue to be inclusive and have high expectations for all.

Academy application - June 2024
We have made an application to the Department of Education to join PolyMAT.
Academy Order - November 2024
We have been granted an academy order by the Secretary of State to join PolyMAT a local Multi Academy Trust.
Conversion update - September 2025
The school is still intending to join PolyMAT. The conversion has been delayed due to two factors:
- The reduction of the De Lucy site to enable RBG to open a Secondary LARP (Local Authority Resourced Provision), to be run by PolyMAT.
- The detection of HAC in May 2025 leading to significant structural works being needed.
The target conversion date is currently for Spring 2026.
Conversion update - Fenruary 2026
The conversion date is currently TBC due to conversations between the Local Authority (RBG) and the trust (PolyMAT) regarding the works needed to the site in regards to the presence of HAC in some parts of the school.
