Congratulations from the Secretary of State for Education
We recently received an email from Bridget Phillipson, the Secretary of State for Education recognising the academic outcomes at De Lucy at the end of the last school year:
Congratulations to you and your team on the excellent outcomes the disadvantaged pupils at De Lucy Primary School achieved at the end of the 2024/25 academic year. Your school’s performance places it among the very best nationally, and this is a significant achievement.
This success reflects the dedication of your staff and the hard work of your pupils. It shows what can be achieved when ambition and commitment come together. Thank you for everything you do to give children the best possible opportunities to succeed.
Your school’s achievements demonstrate what is possible, and I hope you will continue to share your experience and best practice with others. Even the strongest schools can go further.
We are so proud to receive this letter from the Secretary of State for education as this is not an everyday occurrence! Being told that we are amongst the best nationally is high praise indeed. Here at De Lucy we pride ourselves on “High achievement in a caring community” as we know that children can only do their best when they are safe and happy. Not only were our academic outcomes excellent for disadvantaged pupils but the majority of our outcomes for all were in line or above national expectations, especially for phonics and outcomes at the end of KS2 (Year 2 SATS). You can find the data summary on our website at https://www.delucyprimaryschool.co.uk/School-Performance/
This letter is another reminder of the privilege I have to work with such an amazing team of dedicated staff and a fantastic school of children who really are a credit to you all. They are polite, well-mannered and caring towards each other. They take our second school rule of “Everyone has a positive attitude – we have a go” seriously, as we can only ever ask someone to do their best. We know that progress looks different for everyone and we work hard at De Lucy to ensure that everyone gets the support they need to ensure that they are ready for the next stage of their education, whether it moving up a year group at De Lucy or moving on to secondary school.
Our partnerships with parents and carers also makes a difference, for example: speaking with staff, coming to story share sessions, ensuring that reading and TTRS is completed at home, attending parents evening, supporting trips etc. Thank you for supporting us, it is appreciated, we don't see ourselves as ‘just’ a school but a community which focuses on the best opportunities and outcomes for your children.
We will continue to strive for the best outcomes for your children and will not become complacent, don’t worry!
Kind regards
Mrs Lodge
